About us

Who is Next Renewable Generation?

Next Renewable Generation (with a shareholder history as Kayema Energy Solutions and NRG Renew) was founded in 2008 and has become a well-established entity in the South African energy market. Keeping abreast with new technologies and energy solutions, we were named “Energy Company of the Year” by the South African Energy Efficiency Agency in 2010 and nominated for the “Energy Efficiency Project of the Year” in 2011.

From hot water and energy consulting, Next Renewable Generation has further extended its capabilities into the generation space by offering clients the ability to utilize green electricity from a solar PV system without the necessity of Capital Expenditure (“CapEx”). This is done through our flexible and well established Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) offering.

Our know-how and experience is further enhanced by the unique financial and technical advisory support gained from our previous affiliation with NRG Energy Incorporation, based in the United States, who provided the platform for our capability and offering in the African market.

Kayema receives SAEE ‘Energy Company Of The Year’ award 2010

South African Association For Energy Efficiency (SAEE) yearly banquet in Johannesburg. Kayema was nominated by Energy Cybernetics as a candidate.

“This is a testament to us for going above and beyond, and is something all our team can celebrate having played their part in winning,” said Kayema GM James Shirley, who accepted the award. The solar water heating system at the Legacy hotel consists of 117 2-kWh flat panel collectors, and is capable of preheating 30 000 l of water before it enters the hotel’s electrical heating system, which is expected to reduce the electricity usage by about 60%.
